Obsidian is one of the old protective stones: volcanic glass worked into blades and mirrors since prehistory, seated by Cunningham under Saturn and the element of Fire, with protection and grounding among its traditional powers. The rainbow variety carries thin internal layers that flash color in the light, and modern practice reads that as the gentler face of the black stone, protection with a little iridescence in it. Strawberry quartz brings the warmth: a modern heart stone in rose quartz's family, worn for love and gratitude. Is the rainbow sheen in the obsidian natural?

Yes. Unlike coated aura stones, rainbow obsidian's color comes from microscopic mineral layers inside the volcanic glass itself. It shows best in direct light and varies from bead to bead.

Is strawberry quartz an ancient stone?

No. It is real quartz with iron oxide inclusions, but the name is a modern trade term with no entry in the older sources, and we attribute its warm, heart-centered associations to contemporary practice.
