Is this magnetic hematite?

No. Genuine hematite is only weakly magnetic and will not stick to your fridge. The strongly magnetic beads sold widely are hematine, a manufactured material made from iron oxide powder and resin. It looks nearly identical but it is not the same thing.

Can I wear it in the shower or the pool?

Please do not. Repeated wetting causes rust spotting and dulls the polish, sometimes permanently, and chlorine is worse than plain water. Keep it dry and it will hold its mirror finish for years.

Why does it leave a red mark on unglazed tile?
