The wire wrap is the jeweler's answer to a stone too soft to drill: satin spar gypsum, named plainly as across our whole selenite shelf, sits at Mohs 2, and the wrap holds each raw point without a bit ever touching it. Five to the set makes this the family's sharing format, one worn, one hung at the altar, one on the rearview, two given to the circle, or all five distributed through a working space in the tradition's keeping custom. The crystal file is selenite's usual: cleansing and the crown, the stone the practice uses to clear the rest. The points clear no one on their own, as we say plainly across the jewelry shelf; they dress the tradition's brightest file for five necks, or five stations, at once.

Why wire wrapped?

Because the stone is too soft to drill: at Mohs 2, satin spar takes a wrap where it would never survive a bit.

Is this true selenite?

Satin spar gypsum, the form the trade sells as selenite, named plainly: same mineral species, fibrous and silk-lustered.

Can they get wet?

No: gypsum is water-soluble. Off before water, stored padded.
