Merry Meet & Merry Part and Merry Meet Again!

The traditional parting blessing. The words used to close circles across much of modern Wiccan and Pagan practice.

The words close a circle. Once the quarters are released and the boundary comes down, what is left is the people, and the blessing says the useful thing about them: we met gladly, we part gladly, and we will meet again.

It is a modern liturgy, from twentieth-century Wicca rather than any older source, and it has spread as widely as it has because it works. Partings are worth marking, and marking them well is a small kindness that costs nothing.

1. Clean the surface thoroughly and let it dry before applying.
2. Peel and place it carefully, smoothing outward from the center to avoid bubbles.
3. Choose the spot with some care, since removal can be difficult.
4. Keep it clear of wipers, sensors, and anything that needs to move.

What does it mean?

It closes a circle: we met gladly, we part gladly, and we will meet again. It is said as the boundary comes down at the end of a rite.

Is it ancient?

No. It comes out of twentieth-century Wicca. That does not make it less good; it is now one of the most widely used closings in the craft.

What is it made of?

Does it need cleansing?

No. It is a vinyl sticker. Do not put salt on it.

How do I apply it?

Clean and dry the surface first, then peel and smooth it outward from the center.
