The L.A. Circle Casting Bundle gathers what you need to cast a circle: four elemental beeswax candles from Lailokens Awen, one for each quarter, and a California white sage bundle to clear the ground first.
Casting a circle is the first thing most traditions teach and the thing most beginners are least sure of. This is the kit for learning it properly.
Key Features of the Circle Casting Bundle
Four elemental candles. Air for the East, Fire for the South, Water for the West, Earth for the North, hand-poured in beeswax by Lailokens Awen.
A white sage bundle. To clear the space before you set the quarters.
Everything for one rite. No sourcing four candles separately or wondering which colors go where.

The Spiritual Significance
The circle is the oldest working there is: you mark a space, you say what it is for, and for as long as it holds, what happens inside it is set apart from the rest of the day. The four quarters are the standard Western arrangement, each with its element and its direction, and calling them is how you build the boundary.
A word about the sage. White sage, Salvia apiana, is native to Southern California and Baja and has been used ceremonially by the Chumash, Cahuilla, and other Indigenous peoples for generations. Its popularity in the spiritual market has created real conservation pressure and real questions about appropriation, and those traditions belong to those communities. Burn it thoughtfully and sparingly, or substitute another clearing herb; the circle does not depend on it.
How To Use the Circle Casting Bundle
- Clear the space. Light the sage over a heat-safe dish, blow it to a smolder, and move the smoke through the room.
- East, Air. Set the Air candle in the east and light it, inviting Air to witness and guard the circle.
- South, Fire. Move to the south, light the Fire candle, and call Fire.
- West, Water. Then the west, and Water.
- North, Earth. Close the round in the north with Earth, and the circle is cast. Close it in reverse when you are done, and never leave a flame unattended.
Pairs Well With
- Lailokens Awen White Altar Candle Set: altar candles from the same maker.
- Living Wicca by Scott Cunningham: the book that teaches the practice around it.
- Lavender Smudge Stick: a gentler clearing herb, if you would rather not burn sage.
- Brass Universal Candle Holder: holders for the quarter candles.
- Lord's Sword Athame, 18 Inches: the blade, for those who cast with one.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is in the bundle?
Four Lailokens Awen elemental beeswax candles, one for each quarter, and a California white sage bundle for clearing.
What is circle casting?
Marking out a space and setting it apart for the length of a working, calling the four quarters and their elements to hold the boundary.
Which candle goes where?
Air in the east, Fire in the south, Water in the west, Earth in the north, which is the standard Western arrangement.
Do I have to use the sage?
No. White sage is ceremonial to several Indigenous North American peoples and is under harvesting pressure. Burn it thoughtfully or substitute another clearing herb; the circle does not depend on it.
How do I close the circle?
In reverse: thank and release each quarter in the opposite order, and extinguish the candles.
