Leo runs from late July to late August, the fixed sign at the height of summer, when the sun is at its strongest and the days are longest. That timing is the sign's whole character in miniature: astrology gives Leo to the Sun, to the element Fire, and to the fixed modality, and reads it for warmth, generosity, creativity, pride, and the desire to be seen and to shine.
