Aries Zodiac Poster, 8.5 x 11 Inch

The Ram, ready to frame. At 8.5 x 11 inches it fits a standard letter-size document frame with no trimming.

A focal point for beginnings. Aries season opens the astrological year at the spring equinox, so this is the poster for new projects, fresh starts, and workings that need nerve.

Made by AzureGreen. Part of the same zodiac poster series as the other eleven signs, so the wheel can go up one at a time.

• Dimensions: 8.5 x 11 inches

Aries is the first sign of the tropical zodiac, roughly March 21 through April 19, beginning at the spring equinox. It is a cardinal fire sign ruled by Mars and symbolized by the Ram, and it carries the qualities you would expect from that combination: initiative, courage, directness, and a short fuse. In the Golden Dawn correspondences most modern witches inherit, Aries belongs to the Emperor card of the tarot.

In Wicca and eclectic witchcraft, an Aries poster is used as the focal image for workings of courage and beginnings. Practitioners hang it above the altar during Aries season, which overlaps the sabbat of Ostara, build a birthday altar around it for an Aries friend, or time a working to the Moon in Aries when they need to start something and not talk themselves out of it. Red candles, iron, and Tuesday, the day of Mars, are the usual companions. The poster tells the room whose season it is, and Aries season is the season of doing the thing.

1. Choose the wall. Posters fade in direct sun, so a wall that gets soft light, or a spot near the altar rather than the window, keeps the colors true for years.
2. Frame it if you can. The 8.5 x 11 inch size is standard letter, so any document frame from the office aisle fits it exactly, and the glass keeps incense smoke and dust off the print.
3. Hang it where you will actually see it: above the altar, beside the mirror, or at eye level next to the desk where you plan your workings.
4. During Aries season, or on the night of an Aries Moon, set a red candle beneath it and name one thing you have been putting off. Light the candle and take the first step that same day; that is the whole Aries method.
5. For a birthday altar, pair it with a red or orange stone, the Emperor card face up, and something iron, the metal of Mars.

If you are building the whole wheel, Aries is where the wheel begins; hang it first and let the rest follow.

What size is the Aries zodiac poster?

The poster measures 8.5 by 11 inches, standard letter size, so any document or certificate frame fits it without trimming. It is large enough to read from across a small room and small enough to hang above an altar without crowding whatever else lives on the wall.

What are the Aries dates, element, and ruling planet?

Aries runs roughly March 21 through April 19 in the tropical zodiac, beginning at the spring equinox; the exact dates shift a day either way from year to year. It is a cardinal fire sign ruled by Mars and symbolized by the Ram. Its tarot card in the Golden Dawn system is the Emperor.

How do witches use an Aries poster?

As a focal image for workings of courage and beginnings. A witch might hang it above the altar during Aries season, which overlaps Ostara, build a birthday altar around it, or time a working to the Moon in Aries when a project needs a push. Red candles, iron, and Tuesday, the day of Mars, are its usual companions.

Is this a good gift for an Aries?

It is a very easy Aries gift. Frame it in a plain letter-size frame and it is ready to hang the same day. Add a carnelian or red jasper, the Emperor card, and a red candle for a small birthday altar kit, and the Aries in your life will know you got it right.

Does it come framed?

No. The poster ships as an unframed 8.5 x 11 inch print. Since that is standard letter size, an inexpensive document frame from any office or craft store fits it exactly, and the glass keeps candle soot and incense smoke off the print if it hangs above your altar.
