Colour varies bead to bead. Morganite runs from a barely-there blush through peach to a fuller rose. A strand will not be uniform, and the piece you receive will differ from the photograph.

Morganite has no traditional correspondences. It does not appear in Cunningham, it carries no classical planetary or elemental attribution, and no folk practice ever knew it, because in 1910 there was no such thing as morganite. We have left the element and planet fields blank rather than borrow beryl's and pretend.

What modern practice gives it is the gentler end of the heart register. Where rose quartz is the common stone of self-worth and open affection, morganite is spoken of in terms of steadiness and patience: the love that stays rather than the love that arrives. That is a contemporary reading, arrived at within living memory, and it is worth holding as such.

There is nothing lesser about a stone with a short history. Every tradition was modern once. But the honest thing is to say which is which, and morganite is a hundred-year-old stone with a hundred-year-old meaning.

1. Wear it for the long thing. The correspondence practitioners give it is endurance in love rather than its beginning. Anniversaries, repairs, the patient part.
2. Set an intention when you put it on. A worn stone with a question attached is a different object from a worn stone without one.
3. Cleanse it dry. Beryl is hard and will survive most things, but the elastic will not. Smoke, sound, or moonlight; no soaking.
4. It handles daily wear well. At Mohs 7.5 to 8 morganite is one of the tougher stones in the bracelet case. It will not scratch the way malachite or moonstone do.
5. Keep it out of prolonged direct sun. Heat-treated pinks can fade with sustained UV exposure over years. A windowsill is not the place for it.

Is morganite heat-treated? Almost certainly, and the trade rarely says so. Heating morganite drives off yellow and orange tones and leaves a cleaner pink, and it is so routine that most material on the market has been through it. The treatment is permanent and stable. We would rather tell you it is standard than pretend your stone is the exception.

What is morganite, really? Beryl. The same mineral as emerald and aquamarine, coloured pink by manganese instead of chromium or iron.

What are its correspondences? There are none in the traditional sources, and we have left those fields blank rather than approximate. The stone was identified in 1910; the older texts could not have known it.

How does it compare to rose quartz? Rose quartz is the traditional heart stone with centuries of practice behind it. Morganite is a modern one with a modern meaning, harder and clearer, associated with the enduring rather than the opening. Both are honest choices; they are just not the same age.

Will the colour fade? Not under ordinary wear. Prolonged direct sunlight over years can lighten heat-treated pinks, so do not store it on a sunny windowsill.
