Septarian forms where ancient seafloor mud dried, cracked, and was sealed again by mineral water, calcite and aragonite filling the fractures in gold and amber, and the raw cluster shows that story with nothing polished over it: the dark matrix, the veining exactly where the cracks ran, the concretion's rounded original form. The trade's occasional jasper label is simply wrong, jasper being a silica stone and septarian a carbonate concretion, so we correct it on the label and move on.
