Altars organize by height: what matters most sits highest, and the stand bowl is the selenite family's answer to that oldest arranging instinct, the same silk-white gypsum, named plainly as satin spar everywhere on our shelf, lifted on its own foot so the resting custom reads as the arrangement's center. The crystal tradition files selenite under cleansing and rests other stones in its dishes between workings to clear and recharge them by the tradition's reckoning, a custom we pass on as the tradition it is; the pedestal simply gives that custom pride of place. It suits the altar's central stone, the piece the practice returns to daily. The bowl charges nothing on its own, as we say plainly; it raises the custom to eye level.
