The runes came first as an alphabet: the angular letters the Germanic peoples cut into wood, bone, and stone from roughly the second century onward, and which the sagas and the modern revival alike treat as a divinatory system, each letter a name, a sound, and a field of meaning. The traditional casting draws or throws lots; Musio's deck translates the custom to cards, each rune illustrated at full-card scale so the letter arrives with an image around it, and the booklet supplies the readings and spreads. For readers already fluent in card handling, the format makes the runic system immediately workable. The cards foretell nothing on their own, as we say plainly across the divination shelf; they deal an old alphabet's meanings into the reader's hands, where the reading has always actually happened.

1. Draw one to three cards in place of casting lots.
2. Read with the booklet until the letters speak unprompted.
3. Keep the deck cased or pouched between readings.
