The five pointed star is one of the oldest protective marks in the Western record, and in modern witchcraft it stands for the four elements crowned by spirit, the working emblem of the craft itself. The oak brings its own long file: the tree of strength, endurance, and sacred groves across European tradition, with the acorn as the old shorthand for potential, the forest folded into a seed. Stitched together, the design reads as protection that grows, which is a fine thing to wear on a shoulder. A patch does not act on its own; it declares an allegiance and reminds its wearer of it, which is what worn symbols have honestly done since symbols began.

Is this a pentagram or a pentacle?

The star itself is a pentagram; wreathed and bordered as it is here, most practitioners would happily call it a pentacle. Either way it is the craft's own emblem, worn openly.

Will the iron-on backing hold?

Yes for normal wear; for jackets that get heavy use or frequent washing, a quick stitch around the edge makes it permanent.

What does the acorn mean?

Potential and growth, the oak's whole forest folded into one seed, at the center of a protective star. It is the design's quiet best idea.
