Uncrossing is some of the oldest and most important work in Hoodoo, and the logic behind it is plain: no drawing work will take hold while a person is still crossed. The slate has to be cleared first. Aimed at love, that means clearing whatever has been souring the ground, a jinx, a run of bad luck, or simply the accumulated weight of things that went wrong, so that what comes next has a clean place to land.

The old sequence holds and it is worth keeping: you clear first, and you draw second. Practitioners dress a candle and burn it while naming what they mean to lift, anoint a petition, or wear a diluted trace before a cleansing bath. Once the ground is clear, the work turns to drawing, and that is when a love-drawing condition earns its keep. 1. Name what you are clearing. The crossed condition, the run of bad luck in love, the weight of what went wrong.
2. Dress a candle. Anoint a white or black candle working away from yourself, the clearing direction, and burn it safely, never unattended.
3. Anoint a petition. Write what you mean to lift and touch the oil to the paper.
4. Wear a diluted trace before a cleansing bath, working downward and away.
5. Follow with drawing work. Once the ground is clear, a love-drawing condition has somewhere to take hold.

What is Love Uncrossing for?

How is it different from a love-drawing oil?

Opposite halves of the same sequence. Uncrossing clears; drawing pulls toward you. The tradition is firm that you clear first, because drawing work laid over crossed ground tends not to take.

Which direction do I work it?

Away from yourself, and downward. Clearing work moves things off and away, the reverse of a drawing formula.

What does it smell like?

Soft coconut, floral, and vanilla: sweet rather than sharp, which is unusual for an uncrossing oil and suits its aim at love.

Can I put it on my skin?

Only diluted. Blend it into a carrier oil such as jojoba first and patch test on a small area. External use only, never for ingestion.
