Essential oils are potent, and a formulary is not a licence to use them casually. Never apply undiluted essential oil to skin: dilute in a carrier such as jojoba, and patch test first. Several oils are unsafe in pregnancy, several are dangerous around cats and dogs, and a few are phototoxic, meaning they burn in sunlight. Essential oils are not medicine, and none of this is a substitute for medical care.
