Eleguá stands at the beginning of everything in the Lucumí tradition, the Regla de Ocha of Cuba and its diaspora, born of Yoruba religion: the orisha of the crossroads, the messenger between worlds, the keeper of doors and destinies, honored first in every ceremony because no prayer travels without his carrying it. His widely known devotional grammar includes Monday as his day, red and black as his colors, and three as his number, and his portfolio is the one this oil is named for: the opening of roads, the clearing of blocked ways, and the guardianship of thresholds and chances.
