No, it is calcite, and it is characteristic of the stone. Sodalite with no veining at all would be the unusual piece.

Can I put these in water?

Brief contact is fine. Sustained soaking, and salt water in particular, will dull the polish over time. Cleanse with smoke or moonlight instead.
