The Peace Herb in Bulk
Skullcap's file pairs the tradition's two gentlest registers: peace and fidelity, Cunningham filing the herb for love, kept vows, and calm, the leaf of the old custom that sewed constancy into a partner's pillow. By the pound it supplies the making practices: a bench's worth of dream pillows, a market table's calm sachets, the charm work of a season stitched from one bag. The helmet-flowered mint of North America's streambanks, cut and honest. We keep it to the sachet and the pillow rather than the teacup, plainly, as across the herb shelf. The leaf calms no one on its own; it fills the small cloth workings where the calm is actually sewn.
