The triquetra is Celtic design's most traveled knot: three interlaced arcs with no beginning or end, drawn in the Book of Kells, cast in Norse metalwork, and read by modern practice in threes of every kind, land, sea, and sky, maiden, mother, and crone, mind, body, and spirit, the interlace meaning continuity however the reader counts it. Cast on the family's largest lidded vessel, it presides over the cauldron's fullest jobs: 40mm charcoal discs with room for resin, group workings' shared burns, the season's petitions, and the sealed work the lid closes over.
