The Spiritual Significance

The triquetra is one of the oldest knot designs in European art. It appears in Insular art of Ireland and Britain from about the 7th century, including the Book of Kells, and on carved stone crosses. Reading it as the Christian Trinity mostly dates from the Celtic Revival of the 1800s. Today Wiccans and many witches use it for the Triple Goddess and for protection, Celtic Pagans for land, sea, and sky, and Christians for the Trinity. Our guide to the triquetra covers its history and meanings.

How To Use

  1. Cleanse the amulet with smoke, moonlight, or sound. A brief rinse and dry is fine for pewter.
  2. Hold it and name what you want it to protect or what three things you're bringing together.
  3. Wear it on a cord or chain, or set it on your altar for Triple Goddess work.
  4. Take it off before showering or swimming, and wipe it with a soft cloth now and then.
