The condition oil is folk magic's aimed instrument: a blend named for its purpose and applied to the objects of the working. In the money-drawing tradition, that means green and gold candles dressed base to wick to draw increase, lodestones and lucky charms fed a drop, coins and petition papers touched before they go to work, and the corners of a cash drawer or wallet given the classic anointing.
