Charging water under the moon is one of modern witchcraft's most beloved staples, and the phase chosen sets the water's character. The dark of the new moon is the cycle's clean page, the traditional night for planting intentions rather than harvesting them, and water charged then is kept for exactly that register: beginnings, openings, and the quiet clearing of ground before something is built on it. The obsidian chip adds the releasing note, since Cunningham's old protective glass has always guarded thresholds, and every genuine beginning stands on one. The water does not act on its own; it carries the timing and the intention you charge it with, and lends both to whatever it touches.

1. Wipe down an altar, a tool, or a threshold at the start of a new working or season.
2. Anoint the outside of a candle, a doorframe, or a written intention; external surfaces only.
3. Add a splash to a floor wash when a space needs to feel like a fresh page.
4. Charge water safe crystals with a brief dip; keep it away from selenite and other soft stones.
5. Dispose of used water respectfully outdoors, and store the bottle cool and closed between workings.

Can I drink it?

No. This is ritual water for external use only: wiping, anointing surfaces, washes, and altar work. Please do not drink it.

How is it different from full moon water?

By timing and temperament. Full moon water is charged at the cycle's peak and used for culmination and release; new moon water is charged at the dark and used for beginnings and intention setting.

Why the obsidian chip?

Obsidian is the old releasing and guarding glass, and every fresh start begins with a letting go. The chip keeps that half of the work in the bottle.

How long does it keep?

Stored cool and closed, it keeps well between workings. Many practitioners use a bottle within a few lunar cycles and charge or acquire fresh water as their practice turns.

Can I use it on crystals?

On water safe stones, yes, briefly. Keep it away from selenite, soft minerals, and anything dyed, which prefer dry cleansing.
