Kali is a major goddess in living Hinduism, worshipped by millions, particularly in Bengal, where the devotion to her runs deep and old. In Shakta theology she is the Divine Mother in her most unsparing form: the one who destroys ego, illusion, and attachment, and whose terrifying appearance is understood by her devotees as love without sentimentality. Her worship has its own temples, its own priests, its own festivals, and its own long theological literature.

It is worth being straightforward about what this deck is. It is a Western oracle deck, written by an Australian author, drawing on Kali as its theme. It is not a work of Hindu devotional practice, and it does not stand in for one. If you find yourself drawn to Kali through it, the tradition that actually knows her is Hinduism, and Hindu teachers, temples, and texts are where that acquaintance properly deepens. Used as what it is, a contemplative tool aimed at the hard, clarifying work of letting things go, the deck has its own honest use.

1. Set the deck somewhere you can sit with it, and name what you are asking about.
2. Shuffle and draw a card, or lay a small spread if the question wants more room.
3. Read the guidebook entry, and sit with the parts that sting; this deck is built for those.
4. Note what the card asks you to release, and consider whether you are willing.
