Inle, Erinle in the Yoruba root tradition, is the orisha of health, fishing, and the river in Santería and Lucumí: the divine physician, patron of doctors and healers, whose waters are the meeting of river and sea and whose emblems, the fish, the serpent-twined staff among them, his miniature tools carry. In the tradition's practice, herramientas like these are kept with the orisha's sopera or vessel and upon the altar as his attributes, and everything governing their reception, consecration, and use belongs to the priesthood, the olorishas and the houses, transmitted through initiation and lineage: a boundary we state plainly and keep, as with all the tradition's materials on our shelves.
