The Spiritual Significance
In hoodoo and folk magic, the commanding and silencing oils answer a very specific trouble: someone will not stop talking, and their words are causing harm. Shut Up oil, sometimes worked with a slip of paper in a freezer spell or a dressed black candle, is a classic tool for quieting gossip, stilling slander, and taking the heat out of lies told about you.
This is boundary work. It is best aimed at harmful speech, the rumor that will not die, the lie that keeps spreading, rather than at silencing honest disagreement or someone's right to speak truthfully. Dress a candle, write the talker's words on a petition, and ask for their harmful speech to grow quiet. If the talk rises to real defamation or threat, let the working stand beside practical steps such as a direct conversation, documentation, or qualified counsel, rather than in place of them.

Holidays and sabbats
Use it to dress candles for seasonal celebrations. -
Everyday scent
Warm it in an oil warmer, or wear it diluted, for the fragrance alone. -
On skin
Wear it as a personal scent or for a glamour. Dilute it in a carrier oil such as jojoba or grapeseed, and patch test a small spot first. -
In an oil warmer
Fill the warmer's dish mostly with water and add one drop for a lighter scent. Don't use it in an ultrasonic diffuser, which needs essential oils. -
As a gift
A small bottle goes a long way, since most uses take a drop or two. -
How much and how to store it
A drop or two is enough for most uses. Fragrance oils hold up well, so you can keep the bottle with your other supplies with the cap on tight.

Frequently Asked Questions
Should I buy the 2 dram, the 1 oz, or the 16oz?

What is Shut Up Oil for?
It is a commanding, silencing blend used to still harmful gossip, slander, and lies, and to quiet talk that is doing you harm, through dressing candles, writing petitions, and freezer-spell work.
Is this ethical?
It is best understood as boundary work, aimed at harmful speech rather than honest disagreement or someone's right to speak the truth. Where talk rises to defamation or threat, pair it with practical steps and qualified counsel.
How do I use it on my skin?
Always dilute a drop in a carrier oil such as jojoba or grapeseed and patch test first. It is a fragrance blend for external use only, never to be ingested.
What is in the blend?
Espiritu keeps the formula proprietary. Treat it as a blended fragrance oil, dilute before skin contact, and patch test. Its power lives in your intention and the boundary you set.
