Sandalwood is the contemplative traditions' house scent: burned in temples from India to Japan, ground into paste for devotional marks, the fragrance so thoroughly identified with stillness that the trade calls the register meditative without needing to explain. The intention tradition files it under focus, purification, and spiritual grounding, and the oil format carries that register onto the objects of a practice, the meditation candle dressed before its season, the mala pouch given its finishing drop, the altar tool wiped between uses.
