The trick is honest physics: a backflow cone burns down through a hollow center, and the smoke it produces there is cooled and dense enough to sink rather than rise, flowing out the cone's base and down whatever channel the burner carves for it. The effect reads as a slow white waterfall, mesmerizing in a dim room, and burner designs from dragons to pagodas to this rabbit exist to give the fall a stage. Practitioners fold the effect into meditation and cleansing sessions for the same reason anyone does: watching smoke fall is genuinely settling. The burner cleanses nothing by itself, as we always say plainly; it stages the smoke beautifully while the settling is done by the one watching.

1. Set the burner on a stable, heat-safe surface away from drafts: still air keeps the fall intact.
2. Light a backflow cone until the tip glows, then seat it over the burner's vent hole.
3. Watch the smoke fall; a dim room shows the effect best.
4. Let ash and burner cool fully before cleaning, and never leave it burning unattended.

Do I need special cones?

Yes: backflow cones with a hollow core, which send smoke downward. Three starters are included, and standard cones will burn but not cascade.
