Kuan Yin, or Guanyin, is the East Asian form of Avalokiteshvara, the bodhisattva of compassion in Mahayana Buddhism, and one of the most beloved figures in the Buddhist world. She is said to hear the cries of all beings and to have vowed to remain until every one of them is free. Her veneration spans Buddhist temples, Chinese folk religion, and household altars across East Asia and its diaspora, and it is a living practice with its own liturgy, its own lineages, and its own teachers.

This deck is a Western oracle deck that takes her as its theme. It is not a work of Buddhist devotional practice and does not stand in for one; if Kuan Yin draws you, Buddhist teachers and sanghas are where that acquaintance properly deepens. Who is Kuan Yin?
