Worth knowing honestly: what the trade calls rainbow moonstone is, mineralogically, usually white labradorite rather than true moonstone, though both are feldspars and the two names are used interchangeably across the whole crystal market. The shimmering blue flash, the reason it is prized, is adularescence, the same optical effect that gives classic moonstone its glow.
